The bite is on! Fisherman are reporting good catches of Lake Erie Walleye. Trolling near shore and casting off the rocks are producing good fish.
This week has seen many fisherman fishing both in the morning and in the evening. Popular technique is trolling or casting hard crank baits such as Smithwick P10, Rapala Husky Jerks and Bandit Lures in a variety of colors.
During the day the fish have been feeding lower in the water column. Anglers have been catching using longer leads behind their inline planer boards, typically 45 to 75 feet. At night, the fish move high in the water column and fisherman are running their lures 10-15 feet behind their boards.
